Description
The Rivers pays homage to Marshfield’s history. Klinke said the tavern gets its name after Louis and Frank Rivers, who owned the first permanent settlement in Marshfield.
“It was a tavern, restaurant, overnight facility that was the first hotel in Marshfield,” Klinke said.
The meeting rooms at Holiday Inn are named after prominent figures in Marshfield history, so The Rivers Tavern fits right in.
Klinke said the restaurant is one of many renovations taking place at the Holiday Inn over the next 18 months. The lobby was just updated; new mattresses will be received before the end of summer; in the fall, the ballroom and meeting rooms will be renovated; and the restaurant will be updated next year.
The River’s hours will be 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. seven days a week, and dinner served 4:30 to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The establishment will be able to seat about 125 people.
The River’s chef is Todd Liebergen who has been in the restaurant industry for 30 years, working in various establishments around Wisconsin, including Green Bay, Door County and Stevens Point.
“I would like to attract the local community to come to The Rivers on a regular basis,” Liebergen said. “We want people to come here to enjoy well-prepared meals served in a comfortable atmosphere.”
